A return interview is completed with the purpose of identifying and reporting any harm a child may have suffered whilst missing  from home or care, and to also try to understand and address the ‘push and pull’ factors surrounding the missing episode. The interviewer will help the child to explore alternative options to going missing, and provide guidance and support through an information-seeking interview.

  Aim:

Participants will understand the return home interview process. Time will be spent focusing on identifying risks, how to engage children and what works in reducing reported missing episodes.

  Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this course participants will:

·         Understand the process of a return interview

·         Better understand communicating with children

·         Be informed of local services and referral procedures

·         Have understanding of the impact on the family

·         Have an understanding of the risks that that children can be vulnerable to when they are missing
