This online training will be delivered remotely in a modular format using pre reading and scenario based exercises, pre-recorded audio presentation by the trainer and online interactive sessions with the trainer and other delegates.

This course is for staff who have previously completed Level 2 and Level 3 safeguarding courses and are required to refresh their knowledge and skills. This training session will refresh understanding delegates about the processes involved with child protection procedures, including statutory assessment.

Please note that if you are booking from Education Services or from outside the Boroughs of Richmond and Kingston there will be a booking fee of £30

This course is for staff who have previously completed Level 2 and Level 3 safeguarding courses. It is recommended that Designated Safeguarding Leads within schools refresh their Level 3 knowledge every two years and other organisations it is anticipated colleagues update their level 3 every three years.

  Aim:

This course will focus on good practice and lessons learned in multi-agency child protection providing participants with an understanding of the function and processes of child protection.

  • Re-cap - signs and indicators of abuse, the impact and the risk factors in family life.
  • Review ongoing national and local changes to child protection processes, incorporating the learning from serious case reviews.
  • Examine the correct referral processes and multi-agency management of child protection cases.
  • Discuss the related safer recruitment and whistle blowing issues.
  Learning Outcomes:

This course will enable participants to:

  1. Have better knowledge of ongoing national and local changes to child protection processes, incorporating learning from serious case reviews  
  2. Have greater understanding of effective assessment and managing risk whilst keeping child at the centre. 
  3. Have the opportunity to consider roles and responsibilities in safer settings / environments and organisations.
  Minimum Requirements:

This course is for staff who have previously completed Level 2 and Level 3 safeguarding courses and are required to refresh their knowledge and skills.

All Designated Safeguarding Leads need to refresh their safeguarding training every 2 years to keep up with emerging themes, local trends and learning and changes in guidance and legislation

For everyone else we suggest that it is good practice to refresh safeguarding training every 3 years to keep up with emerging themes, local trends and learning and changes in guidance and legislation
